WELCOME
My name is Artemis and I am the licensed psychotherapist at PBG Therapy. I offer traditional and Christian counseling. My goal is to help you find effective solutions which provide lasting success and empower you to confidently independently overcome future obstacles. The outcome is in your control.
MY COUNSELING APPROACH
I believe therapy is a collaborative and transforming process. Which means, in order for therapy to be successful, we are both responsible for following through with our role. I am responsible for providing a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment. In addition, your comfort and trust are equally necessary factors to your success. Whether your problems are at home, work, or in social settings; Together, we develop attainable manageable goals to overcome them.
I believe it is critical for my client to understand HOW the series of life events led to their current situation and how BALANCE is often a missing link. Too much of anything is never healthy. Additionally, I believe our perspective and attitude toward situations also plays a significant role in our outcomes. Having a positive attitude trains your brain to think and act in a solution focused method. A negative attitude promotes ourselves to think and act as if we already failed, which kills all joy and hope to continue trying.
My clientele primarily consists of those recovering from life events which led to relationship problems, depression, anxiety, phobias, and/or self-destructive behaviors. Additionally, many clients also gradually develop their symptoms over time due to neglect or other unhealthy coping to mask them.
After the HOW's and WHY's are identified and understood, change is possible. My goal is helping you become aware of maladaptive thinking and behavioral patterns which keep you stuck in the vicious cycle. The skills you learn in therapy are yours forever. The more you practice them, the more natural & lasting they will be. : )

Some Types of Therapy Used in My Practice
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - is a structured, collaborative, present-oriented therapy that is based on the idea that there is a relationship between an individual’s thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. In CBT, the therapist and client examine how unhelpful thoughts (cognitions) and behaviors can negatively impact how an individual feels and functions.
- The cognitive portion of CBT looks at a person’s style of thinking and how it impacts their feelings.
- The basic cognitive model hypothesizes that people’s emotional/behavioral reactions are influenced by their perception of events.
- In the context of couple’s therapy, erroneous or unhelpful thoughts about their partner or their behaviors can result in negative feelings and actions toward their partner. This can initiate a dangerous spiral for the couple. Helping couples to identify these dysfunctional thoughts and replace them with more balanced interpretations stops the downward spiral and promotes a more positive relationship.
- The Gottman Method - Through research-based interventions and exercises, The Gottman Method helps couples break through barriers to achieve greater understanding, connection and intimacy in their relationships. The Gottman Method Couples Therapy is a structured, goal-oriented, scientifically-based therapy.
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) - is goal oriented, targeting the desired outcome of therapy as a solution rather than focusing on the symptoms or issues that brought someone to therapy. This technique emphasizes present and future circumstances and desires over past experiences. The therapist encourages the client to imagine the future that he or she wants and then the therapist and client collaborate on a series of steps to achieve that goal. This form of therapy involves developing a vision of one’s future, and then determining what skills, resources, and abilities a person already possesses that can be enhanced in order to attain the desired outcome. SFBT was developed by Steve de Shazer, Insoo Kim Berg, and their team at the Brief Family Therapy Family Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the early 1980s.
Whether its been going on for ages or recently began, there is no better time to work through it.
Counseling provides an opportunity to share our story, identify how our past contributes to current challenges, and learn solutions to prevent unnecessary re-occurrences.
When we're in it, it seems nearly impossible to get out of it.
Counseling can help you realize IT IS POSSIBLE to get out of the cycle.
